Details

Seal carving is an art that integrates Chinese calligraphy with engraving techniques. Since ancient times, seals have been used as a signature in official documents and private correspondence, representing personal identity and sign of authority. The industry of seal carving once flourished in Hong Kong in the 1960s to 70s, but the work was gradually taken over by machines in the 1980s. In this workshop, the instructor will introduce to participants the history of Chinese seal engraving, as well as explaining and demonstrating relevant skills. Participants will have the chance carving their own Chinese seal under instructor’s guidance.
