Academic Success Month

 

The transition to university life can be challenging for undergraduate students. To facilitate new students’ adjustment to the new learning environment and support their academic success, the Academic Success Month (“ASM”) will be implemented during the first two months of Term 1 and Term 2. A variety of practical training workshops will be organized to equip them with necessary academic skills for university studies, to introduce valuable learning resources and supports available to help students excel in their academic journey and to foster a culture of academic excellence and integrity.

 

Objectives

  • To equip students with necessary academic skills for university studies.
  • To provide learning resources and supports for students to excel in their studies.
  • To promote a culture of academic excellence and integrity.

Target Audience

Full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students, especially for those who are the first-year students.

Week 1: Library 101: Things You Need to Know to Support Your Academic Success [3 Sep 2024 (Tue) and 4 Sep 2024 (Wed)]

Topic: Library 101: Things You Need to Know to Support Your Academic Success

Description: The library is always by your side as you start your university journey. Whether you need to work on assignments or have a relaxing time with friends, you can always find your spot here.

Come and explore both physical and electronic library that can support your academic success in the University.

Description: Registrants will be familiarized with the independent learning resources and services available on campus for their academic, professional and lifelong success. Winners of the quizzes at the end of the tour will be given tokens of appreciation.

Description: In this training workshop, we will explore practical strategies that can increase reading speed and improve comprehension. There will be opportunities for you to apply the strategies with selected reading texts during the session; and hopefully with more practice, you can handle the academic reading at ease.
