Details

The CUHK’s Got Talent aims to promote cultural diversity through music within the CUHK community. By showcasing their musical talents and creativity, students can strengthen connections from different backgrounds and encourage collaboration.

 

Competition Details

  • Content: Singing & Musical instruments
  • Format: Solo, duo or band
  • Maximum number of members in each participating unit: 8
  • Time limit for each participating unit: 4 minutes

 

Scoring & Rules

  • Scoring criteria:
    • Tone/Voice & Technique;
    • Stage Appeal & Costume; and
    • Cultural Diversity*

*Cultural Diversity: e.g. singing in a second language, diverse group composition, music representative of a certain culture, and costume/props  showcasing culture

  • To facilitate screening, each application is encouraged to submit a video clip of the performance by 6 February 2025. In case of overwhelming responses, priority will be given to those who submit their clips.
  • There are no restrictions on the language or genres of the performing songs. However, contestants cannot choose songs with foul language or offensive or sensitive words.
  • Performers may choose to sing without background music, perform a cappella, use prepared instrumental music (MMO), or bring their own instrument(s) for the performance.
  • By participating in the contest, contestants agree to allow the  Office of Student Affairs to publicly share their images and performance videos for promotional purposes.
  • The Office of Student Affairs reserves the right to make the final decision in the event of any disputes.

  • Champion, 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up
  • Best Showcase of Cultural Diversity
  • The Popularity Award (based on the total scores from the audience)
  • The Cheerleading Award

 

Prizes/ Incentives

    • Champion: trophy & $2,000 gift vouchers
    • 1st Runner-up: trophy & $1,500 gift vouchers
    • 2nd Runner-up: trophy & $1,000 gift vouchers
    • Best Showcase of Cultural Diversity: trophy & $800 gift vouchers
    • The Popularity Award: trophy & $500 gift vouchers
    • The Cheerleading Award: $500 gift vouchers

 

Subsidies for Finalists

  • Finalists can receive subsidies for preparing equipment or costumes:
    • Unit with 1 student: Max. $500 subsidy
    • Unit with 2 students: Max. $1000 subsidy
    • Unit with 3 students or above: Max. $1500 subsidy
  • Finalists can receive subsidies for preparing cheerleading materials:
    • For each unit: Max. $800
