A Day in Old Hong Kong – Qipao Experience Originally popularized in the 1920s in Shanghai, the qipao is a traditional Chinese dress featuring a high collar, a fitted waist, and often side slits. It symbolizes elegance and cultural heritage due to its intricate craftsmanship and the blend of traditional and modern fashion. It remained popular for women in 1960s Hong Kong. You now have the opportunity to experience a day in old Hong Kong by wearing a qipao and visiting the historic streets in the Sheung Wan neighbourhood. The day will conclude with a traditional dim sum meal. Male students are also welcome to participate and wear the changshan, the male version of the qipao. (The activity is free of charge. Successful registrants will be required to pay a HK$100 deposit which is fully refundable upon attending the event. Seats are limited. If the number of registrants exits the quota, successful applicants will be determined by drawing lots.)
