Office of University General Education |
General Education (GE) plays a vital role in the University’s mission to provide a balanced undergraduate education for all students, promoting their well-rounded intellectual development. The General Education Programme at CUHK comprises University GE (consisting of the GE Foundation Programme and the Four Areas of GE) and College GE. The Office of University General Education offers the GE Foundation Programme and coordinates the Four Areas of University GE; it also operates the GE China Programme. The GE Foundation Programme engages students with classical texts and dialogues on perennial concerns of human existence. The Four Areas aim to broaden students’ exposure by inviting them to examine four fundamental realms of human concern, namely, one’s relation with Chinese cultural heritage, with the physical world, with fellow human beings, and with oneself. The GE China Programme is dedicated to enhancing students’ understanding of China and the development of Hong Kong from the nation’s perspective. |
