UrHeard: Recruitment of Listeners

Have you ever experienced confusion in your study? Who should I discuss with when I feel “so confused”? We are happy to announce that the “UrHeard” application is designed as a solution.


“UrHeard” application (website) was launched in March 2022 with the aim to provide an inviting space for students to interact, support and learn from each other. Up to now, more than 300 students have created accounts on “UrHeard” and nearly 200 chat requests have been initiated by student users to consult peer listeners’ advice. 52 listeners have been recruited and trained to serve our student users on the “UrHeard” messaging platform.


In the new academic year, we are going to expand the functions and scope of the “UrHeard” for the sake of enhancing student users’ experience and service coverage. We are now looking for 200 students to join our Listener service team. Please find the details as follows if you are interested in serving our CUHK community.



  • Full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students
  • Preferably Year 2 or above with good academic standing and other non-academic learning experience
  • Have enthusiasm and caring heart to serve students
  • With relevant student serving experience (e.g. uBuddies, uShiners, uPals, GLEAMs, or other leadership and student ambassador programme) will be advantageous



  • Attend 3 compulsory training sessions (total 6 hours). More training sessions may be arranged based on the needs of Listeners.
  • Serve 1 day per week to answer students’ questions (Only turning on the “on-duty” button is necessary; you will be alerted once a conversation request comes in.).
  • Attend 5 sessions of group consultation during the service period.
  • Assist in organizing student activities.

Selection Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a Zoom interview. Please indicate your preferred timeslots in the application form. An invitation email will be sent out no later than 2 September 2022. You are also invited to install the UrHeard Application to experience the service in advance.
