International House

The International House (“I-House”), managed by the Office of Student Affairs, is a residential complex providing on-campus accommodation to undergraduate students of CUHK.  I-House is also a platform to promote cultural diversity and inclusivity.  We are now seeking candidates (males & females) with multicultural experiences, good language proficiency, and a strong track record of organizing extra-curricular activities.  Experience as a resident tutor and knowledge of Mental Health First Aid would be considered as advantages.

Post Description and Specification

All full-time degree-holding staff and full-time postgraduate students are welcome to apply.  The successful applicant will be nominated as a voluntary Resident Tutor and should be available for duty from 1 September 2023 to 31 July 2024, renewable subject to mutual agreement.  This is not employment either on a full-time or part-time basis and is not regarded as concurrent employment with the University.  There will not be any allowance/remuneration or any other employee benefits for the provision of this volunteer service.   The successful applicant will be provided with accommodation in a single room at I-House, room assignment subject to the decision of I-House management.

Resident Tutors report to the Wardens and their duties are:

  • Assist the Wardens in maintaining discipline at I-House;
  • Offer support, advice, and care to residents;
  • Handle emergency cases;
  • Assist in the check-in and check-out exercises;
  • Monitor residents’ usage of hostel facilities;
  • Plan and organize resident activities, and support the activities hosted by residents;
  • Provide guidance to the Resident Association;
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Wardens and I-House management office.

On-duty requirement

  • Attend shifts according to a roster that includes weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays;
  • Minimum 5 days per month to be on the roster;
