The International House is to enlist volunteers from University staff and postgraduate students to serve as Resident Tutors until the end of July 2022. We have 1 to 2 openings and no specific gender requirement.

All full-time degree-holding staff and full-time postgraduate students are welcome to apply. Applicants should be mature, responsible, and possess good interpersonal skills. Fluency in English is a must while speaking Putonghua will be an advantage. Experience organizing extra-curricular activities and completing CUHK’s Mental Health First Aid training.

The Resident Tutor will be reporting to the Wardens. Duties include:

  1. Attend shifts as tutor-on-duty according to a roster that includes weekdays, Saturdays, Sunday and Public Holidays;
  2. Plan and organize resident activities;
  3. Provide guidance to the Residents’ Association;
  4. Assist the Warden in maintaining discipline at I-House;
  5. Provide counselling and support to residents when needed;
  6. Handle emergency cases;
  7. Perform other duties assigned by the Wardens

Successful applicants will be nominated as voluntary Resident Tutors. This is not concurrent full-time or part-time employment with the University. A single room will be offered, but the room’s location is subject to the management’s decision. There will not be any allowance/remuneration or any other employee benefits for the provision of this volunteer service.
