Enlistment of Volunteer to Serve as Resident Tutor for I-House (Oct 2021)

Details

The International House is to enlist one female volunteers from University staff and postgraduate students to serve as Resident Tutor for the academic year of 2021/22.

All full-time degree-holding staff and full-time postgraduate students are welcome to apply.   Applicants should be mature, responsible and possess good interpersonal skills.   Fluency in English is a must, while the ability to speak Putonghua will be an advantage.   Experience in organizing extra-curricular activities and completion of CUHK’s Mental Health First Aid training are preferable.

The Resident Tutors will be reporting to the Warden.  Their duties include:

  1. Attend shifts as tutor-on-duty according to a roster that includes weekdays, Saturdays, Sunday and Public Holidays;
  2. Plan and organize resident activities;
  3. Provide guidance to the Residents’ Association;
  4. Assist the Warden in maintaining discipline at I-House;
  5. Provide counselling and support to residents when needed;
  6. Handle emergency cases;
  7. Perform other duties assigned by the Warden

 
Successful applicant will be nominated as voluntary Resident Tutors. This is not an employment either on a full-time or part-time basis, and is not regarded as a concurrent employment with the University. There will not be any allowance/ remuneration or any other employee benefits for provision of this volunteer service. 

Resident Tutors will be provided with accommodation of a single room at I-House (the location of which block of I-House is subjected to the management’s discretion). She are required to provide volunteer service on weekdays as well as Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays on a rotational basis. The nomination will normally end by the end of July 2022, subject to mutual agreement.
