Overseas Chinese: Identity and Culture
Chinese identity can be complicated and confusing for many, especially for people from outside Asia. The Chinese diaspora offers extremely varied experiences and insights, connected through culture and history. What do Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Filipino, Australian, Canadian, or American Chinese have in common, and what makes them different? How do their new homes shape their sense of belonging? How does it all affect society and politics? This session will dive deep into various overseas Chinese communities and enrich our understanding of what it can mean to be Chinese.

Pakistani Culture and Language
The number of ethnic minorities in our community is far from our imagination. You seldom talk to those “invisible neighbors” and barely know their life and culture. Ms. Asfa Kabir, a Pakistani mother, hopes to foster mutual understanding by teaching Urdu in To Kwa Wan. She will share Pakistani language and culture with us in this session. Come joining us to create a more inclusive society!
