Hanja (Chinese characters in Korea ??)
7 March 2022 (Monday) | 6:30pm-8:00pm

The written Korean language as we know today as Hangul is so special that it can be identified almost immediately, but did you know that just decades ago, most publications were still written in Chinese characters known as Hanja? Fans of instant noodles will recognize 辛 but what could 畓 or 佛 mean? Don’t miss this chance to learn more about the Korean language!

The Caribbean Demystified ?
11 March 2022 (Friday) | 5:30pm-7:00pm

Did you know that when Columbus “discovered” (or rather reached) the Americas, it was the Caribbean rather than the mainland? With a unique history of indigenous peoples, brutal colonisation by the Spanish, Dutch, English and French, as well as slave trade and even modern tourism, this region at the crossroads of America is often poorly understood outside the Western hemisphere. Join us for an evening of uncovering the differences among the various countries and regions of the Caribbean!
