Adjustment and Developmental Programmes
With a view to helping students to adjust to and benefit from the CUHK learning environment, a range of adjustment and developmental programmes are organised for learning enhancement purpose:
Academic Success Seminars
The Academic Success Seminars are organised during the academic year to assist students in developing their study skills. These seminars cover practical topics such as time management, academic referencing, presentation skills and communication skills etc.
In each academic year, distinguished figures in different fields will be invited to share with our students their stories and secrets of success. In the previous years, students have been inspired by talks such as ‘Pedal to Success’, ‘A Matter of Life & Death’ and ‘Life-long Earning’ etc.
Hong Kong Explorer Series
The Hong Kong Explorer Series offers a rich variety of experiential learning opportunities for students to explore Hong Kong and learn the local history and culture. The series includes museum visits, guided tours and workshops. Students have so far visited the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal, Dr. Sun Yat-sen Museum, and joining the Wan Chai Community Cultural Tour, the PMQ Heritage Guided Tour and the Letterpress Printing Workshop etc.
Afternoon Tea with LEOs
To help new students’ adjustment to campus life and university study, the Learning Enhancement Officers (LEOs) arrange regular chit-chat sessions in i-LOUNGE where students can share in a relaxing atmosphere with LEOs and fellow students topics related to their studies and their vibrant life/ experience at CUHK.
Sharing Sessions and Information Talks
Various sharing sessions and information talks are organised to address different concerns of non-local students. The faculty-based sharing sessions are held in response to the shared concerns of first-year students on major declaration, exchange opportunities and preparation etc. Alumni sharing sessions provide a chance for students to learn from their seniors their work and life in Hong Kong after graduation and how they have been prepared for it. In addition, information talks are arranged to help non-local students to understand accommodation rental issues in Hong Kong.
